What is finAPI, and what is it used for?
finAPI is a regulated open banking provider that enables secure access to bank account data via APIs. It allows accounting systems and other financial tools to connect to your amnis account with your explicit consent.
Through this connection, balances and transactions can be automatically retrieved for reconciliation and reporting.
finAPI operates under European PSD2 regulations and uses strong authentication to ensure your data remains protected. It acts purely as a secure data bridge and does not access your account without your approval.
How do I connect my amnis account to my accounting system?
To connect your amnis account, open your accounting or ERP system and navigate to the “finAPI” or “Bank account connection” section.
Select amnis from the list of supported banks
Start the connection process
You will be redirected to amnis
Log in and approve access using your usual authentication method (e.g. app or TAN)
Once approved, your accounting system will be able to securely import account balances and transactions for reconciliation and reporting.
Does amnis or finAPI automatically access my account?
No. Access only occurs after you have given explicit consent during the setup process.
After the connection is established:
Data is typically retrieved when you open or refresh the feature in your accounting system
Some systems may also update data periodically
At no point is your account accessed without your prior authorization.
What data is accessed through the connection?
The connection provides access only to the data required for accounting and reporting purposes, including:
Account details (e.g. IBAN, account name)
Account balances
Transaction history
Access is strictly limited to what you approve during the consent step.
Can I disconnect my amnis account from finAPI?
Yes, you can disconnect your account at any time.
Simply go to the “Connected accounts” section in your accounting system and select disconnect/remove.
Once disconnected:
Data access is stopped
The active consent may be revoked
You can reconnect your account at any time if needed.
Can I initiate payments from my accounting system via finAPI?
No, this functionality is currently not available.
The connection is limited to read-only access (balances and transactions) and cannot be used to initiate payments from your accounting system or ERP.
Does amnis or finAPI have access to my login credentials?
No. Your login credentials are encrypted and securely stored, and are never accessible to amnis or finAPI in plain form.
finAPI is regulated by BaFin. All finAPI servers operate under strict European regulatory and security standards.

How to check if your account is eligible:
The easiest way to confirm eligibility is directly in your accounting or ERP system:
Go to the Banking or Finance section
Start the process to connect an online bank account
In the first step, you’ll see a list of supported banks
If amnis appears in the list, your account is eligible.
How often is my data updated?
The update frequency depends on your accounting or ERP system.
In most cases, data is synced automatically on a:
Daily
Weekly
or Monthly basis
Duplicate checks are performed to ensure that each transaction is only synced once.
Why is my connection not working?
Connection issues can have different causes depending on the system used.
If you experience errors or syncing issues, please contact the support team of your accounting or ERP system.
If the issue is related to your amnis account authentication, please contact our amnis support team.
What should I do if transactions are missing?
Only fully executed transactions are synced through the connection.
If transactions appear to be missing:
Ensure they are fully completed (not pending)
Try refreshing or re-syncing in your accounting system
If the issue persists, please contact your accounting/ERP provider’s support team.
