With Card Groups, businesses can organize card expenses by departments, projects, or regions - enhancing financial management and streamlining spending across multiple countries. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the setup process, ensuring you can fully leverage this feature for better control and oversight.

Creating a new Card Group

Card Groups can be created in the Debit Card section of your amnis account. Simply click the "New Card Group" button to get started - it's super simple.

Important: Only users with admin or card admin rights can create and manage Card Groups.

Configuring your Card Group settings

When creating a new Card Group, you’ll need to define a few key settings:

  1. Card Group name (mandatory): Choose a clear and recognizable name for the group. This will appear in your overview and help differentiate groups.

  2. Group administrator (mandatory): Assign a manager for this group. You can select an existing user from your team, who will then have full permission to manage cards within their group. (More details on the Card Group admin role can be found at the end of this guide.)

  3. Country validity: By default, card usage is permitted in EEA & CH. For security reasons, we recommend limiting transactions to only the necessary countries. This is particularly useful when managing regional Card Groups.

    1. Note: The more restrictive setting applies when making a transaction. For example, if the Card Group allows broader country access than an individual card, the card’s stricter settings will take precedence.

  4. ATM Cash withdrawals: Decide whether cards in this group can withdraw cash from ATMs. By default, withdrawals are disabled.

  5. Card Group budgets (optional): Set a spending cap for all cards within the group. This ensures tighter cost control, making it easy to manage budgets for temporary projects, campaigns or recurring business expenses. Once the budget is reached, all cards in this group will be blocked from further payments.

💡 Good to know: You can adjust Card Group settings at any time - for example, expanding usage to additional countries or increasing the group's budget.

Adding cards to a Card Group

Option 1: Ordering new cards within a group

  1. Go to Card Group Details and click "New Debit Card."

  2. Choose whether you’d like to create a virtual or physical card.

  3. The newly created card will automatically be added to your selected Card Group.

Option 2: Adding an existing card to a group

For now, adding an existing card requires a manual step:

  1. Navigate to the card settings of the card you’d like to assign.

  2. Click "Edit", then find the "Card Group" field.

  3. Select the relevant group from the dropdown menu and save your settings. Done! The card is now part of the Card Group.

Card Group overview

The Card Group Overview provides a clear snapshot of all your card groups, including:

  • Assigned Card Group admins

  • The number of cards per group

  • Budget status

Within each Card Group details section, users can access:

  • A full transaction history for the group

  • A list of all cards assigned to the group

  • The group's current settings

Please note that users with the "Card User" role do not have permission to view these details.

Need to find specific information? Use the available filters to quickly sort and view relevant data. Additionally, the total group spending and Card Group status are displayed here - these settings can be modified as needed, as explained in the next section.

Editing or Suspending an Existing Card Group

Card Group settings can be adjusted at any time by Card Admins.

What can be edited?

  • Budget limits

  • Country restrictions

  • ATM withdrawal permissions

Suspending a Card Group

If a card group is no longer needed, you can temporarily suspend it. By suspending your group card functionalities, both your existing and newly issued cards in this group will be temporarily deactivated. This means you won't be able to make new payments using these cards; however, any transactions that were previously approved will proceed as usual.

You can reactivate a suspended group at any time - restoring full functionality to all its assigned cards.

Understanding the role of Card Group admins

We’ve introduced Card Group admins, a role that can be assigned to any user. Card Group admins have full control over the cards within their assigned group. This includes:

Managing card settings (viewing secure info, retrieving PINs, etc.)
Ordering new cards (limited to their assigned group)

🚫 However, Card Group admins cannot modify group settings.

Who can assign a Card Group admin?

Card Admins have the ability to assign this role to any user in the Card Group settings. This can be done either during the initial creation of the group or by editing the settings at a later time.
