Tags allow you to analyze your cash flows and better understand all your account movements by easily categorizing your expenses, incoming funds, and currency exchanges.

They can be used to assign payments, invoices and currency exchanges to categories, so that you are able to easily identify all transactions belonging, for example, to an ongoing project, event or personnel expenses.

How can I create and add tags?

Tags can be created and added in your amnis account in several ways.

We've already added default tags, like personnel expenses, investments and supplier payments, to simplify the first steps for you.

  1. Assigning tags to a contact

You can add tags directly on contact level (contact details). Simply go to a contact, click on "Add tag" and select a tag from the list or start typing to directly create a new one.

Tip: It is possible to add multiple tags to a contact or transaction.

Your tags will then appear in the contact details as follows:

From now on, all transactions related to this contact are tagged automatically. If you want an additional tag for a single payment or don't want to use all of your contact's tags, you still have the possibility to adapt the tags, for example during payment creation or afterwards in the payment details.

You can also easily remove a tag from a contact by clicking on the "cross". From then on, transactions related to this contact will no longer be tagged automatically. However, the tag itself will continue to exist and you can still use it elsewhere.

Please note: removing a tag from a contact or transaction doesn't result in the deletion of this tag. If you want to delete the tag completely, please refer to the third section.

  2. Tagging single transactions

To tag transactions, like payments, invoices or currency exchanges, click on the transaction you would like to tag. You will now see the transaction details on the right side. At the top, you have the possibility to add tags. You can either select an already existing tag from the list or start typing to directly create a new one.

Alternatively, you have the possibility to assign tags already during payment or invoice creation.

    Example during payment creation:

After selecting the bank account, amount, reference and payment date, you can manage your payment's tags:

To remove a tag, just click on the cross and it will be removed from the transaction.

Please note: removing a tag from a contact or transaction doesn't result in the deletion of this tag. If you want to delete the tag completely, please refer to the third section.

  3. Creating and deleting tags under "Insights"

Under "Tools" -> "Insights" you have the possibility to manage all your tags. Click on "Manage tags" (upper left corner) to create a new tag or select an already existing tag from the list to edit (rename) or delete it.

Please note: if you delete a tag, it will be removed from all contacts and transactions that have been tagged so far automatically and you will no longer be able to see it.

Where do I get insights to analyze my transactions?

You'll find an overview of your tags in your amnis account under "Tools" -> "Insights", where you can also manage them.

You can generate a report to get a detailed transaction overview per currency, transaction type or group. This way, you can analyze your cashflows and better understand all your account movements.

Please note: you need to fill in at least the 'Tags', 'From' and 'To' fields to be able to create a report.

Further, you have the possibility to export the transaction overview file.
